FULBOURN INSTITUTE SPORTS AND SOCIAL CLUB Home End, Fulbourn The Fulbourn Institute Sports and Social Club was established in 1981 to encourage the development of playing and social facilities for sport in the village. The Institute has a new modern building adjacent to The Fulbourn Centre near to the recreation ground in Home End. Since the Institute moved from its' old building in June 2006, the membership has grown to nearly 600. The Institute is run by Committee which meets every month. The AGM is usually held in June of each year. The Committee is made up as follows:- President David Coleman Chairman John Brown Secretary Julie Sheldon Treasurer Jill Menzies Membership Secretary Alison Wright along with three members of the Football club, three members of the Cricket club and a maximum of two members from each affiliated sporting club, ie. Tennis, Bowls etc. Julie can be contacted at Julie.sheldon40@ntlworld.com , and any membership queries can be e mailed to Alison at membership@fissc.com Current membership fees are £10 per family (all living at same address and children under 18), single membership £7.50 and Over 65's membership only £2.50 as a one off payment. Membership application forms are available at the bar. Membership is payable annually on 1 st April. The bar is run by Justin Stearn, the Steward. He can be contacted on 01223 881554. Inside the building there is a long bar area, large screen TV showing all major sporting events, Pool tables and Dart board. A Pool team and Dart team are now well established. The bar is well stocked with several different beers, including various guest ales, wines, spirits, soft drinks and coffee, all sold at club prices. The Institute is open 7 days a week, Monday from 7.00 p.m. all other days from midday until close. The kitchen is now fully operational and food is available at various times during the opening hours to include lunch between 12 and 2, Tuesday to Friday. The kitchen recently received a very high rating following an inspection from the Environmental Health Department at South Cambs District Council. There are functions held at regular intervals, Discos, Bands, Race Nights, Wine tasting, and a very popular Quiz & Curry night held every month.
